Increasing the available pool of prize money from $34,000 to $43,000, the Polycom Bonus Challenge encourages XCv2 developers to extend their application user experiences into the domain of web and video-enabled desktop devices. Polycom's VVX 1500 business media phone, which combines a personal video conferencing system and full featured support for the BroadWorks VoIP application platform, offers an open API and microbrowser for delivery of personalized Web content and integration with business applications making it easier for developers to expand their applications to the desktop phone and open up new revenue opportunities.

So what’s the scoop on the bonus prizes?

Polycom is sponsoring an additional $2K for the first place prizes and an additional $1K for the second place prizes within the XBusiness, XVertical, and XCool application categories for developers who will build or extend their applications for Polycom devices. For category definitions, please go to the main XCv2 contest page here (http://developer.broadsoft.com/xcv2). The Polycom bonus prizes are indicated in the white bold font below.

New and Registered Developers - Here’s what you need to do:

1. New Developers need to register by July 20th: If you have not already registered, and you are a Polycom only developer, you still have the opportunity to register. Please do so by clicking here: http://developer.broadsoft.com/xcv2/register. In the comments section, please indicate that you are interested in the Polycom Bonus Challenge.
2. Existing (Registered) XCv2 contestants need to email us by July 20th: You need to tell us that you are throwing your hat into the ring. Just send an email to xcv2@broadsoft.com with your contestant ID and let us know that you are interested in the Polycom Bonus Challenge.
3. Yes, we recognize that this bonus surprise is too close to the end of the earlier application submission deadline of July 31st, so we are extending the deadline for ALL prototype submissions to August 17th (three weeks following XCv2 deadline)! You have an additional full three weeks to polish up those apps for our judges!
4. All winners are still to be announced by September 9th.

• Developer to extend their application to either VVX 1500 or SoundPoint IP 550, 650 or 670 for the XBusiness and XVertical categories.
• Applications in the XCool category must run the VVX 1500 and use HD Voice or Video to be eligible for the bonus prize.
• Developer must use the PLCM XML API and one or more of BroadSoft Xtended APIs.
• At least 60% of category functionality is available on the IP phone (if app also uses PC).

Application Grading Criteria (How to Win)

If BroadSoft awards a price to a PC only app, Polycom will award the Polycom Bonus Challenge price to the next highest ranked app that utilized the Polycom IP phone.

• 40% Value creation in specific category (Innovation if XCool)
• 30% User Experience
• 30% Innovation (coolness factor if XCool)

Polycom Tools

• Polycom APIs and tools will be made available by July 10th.
• Once you are indicated your intent to participate in the Bonus Challenge, we will be contacting you to make sure you have the right devices and to loan you devices if needed.
